Applications are invited for the position of Researcher Technician within an interdisciplinary research team at UCL to play a role in the ERC funded project Extreme Citizen Science: Analysis and Visualisation (ECSAnVis). The project takes the ambitious step of developing geographical analysis and visualisation tools that can be used, successfully, by people with limited literacy, in a culturally appropriate way. The project includes working with marginalised, non-literate communities in remote areas (e.g. Cameroon rainforest) with the aim to enable them to conduct their own environmental monitoring or mapping. The successful candidate will join a team of anthropologists, geo-information scientists, human-computer interaction experts and computer scientists and will support the research efforts undertaken within the scope of this project.

We're looking for a person with MSc and/or PhD degree in relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science,  Geographical Information Science, Human Computer Interaction) or relevant work experience of at least 3 years. They will also have the ability to write well-documented and maintainable code using state-of-the-art architecture and frameworks as well as experience with REST APIs and of various aspects of data management and SQL databases.

The post is commencing on the 1st December 2018 and is offered for 24 months in the first instance.
