Dear All
Firstly, thanks to everyone who took part in the online exercise.
Since the launch of the exercise a week ago, 138 people have completed the questionnaire which is a great result! We greatly appreciate the contribution people have made – your
responses will feed into an assessment of how best to design and deliver virtual outcrop-based teaching.
Overall, respondents found that the virtual outcrop of Stackpole syncline helped them understand the fold geometry and that these 3D realisations have strong potential as teaching & training aids. An initial summary of the results of the
survey (and solutions to the block diagram questions) can be found
here.
We will present more results from this work at the AGU Fall Meeting 2018 (10-14 Dec, Washington) poster session: ED43H-1311: Virtual
Outcrop Models for development of spatial reasoning skills and public engagement (Invited) Clare E. Bond & Adam J. Cawood
We welcome any further comments, feedback or ideas for the use of virtual outcrops in teaching – please get in touch.
Best wishes
