Dear all,

I recently created a digital resource for teaching classical history. Any advice on how to improve or disseminate it would be greatly appreciated.

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on toldinstone.com, a public history project that explores the classical world through buildings and monuments. The centerpiece of the site is “A History of Rome in Fifteen Buildings,” which combines a podcast series with photo essays and carefully-researched short stories to tell the story of the Eternal City.

The “History of Rome” is based on a course I taught at the University of Michigan, where my students responded very positively to the idea of exploring long historical narratives through “moments” epitomized by buildings. By creating a website founded on the same approach, I hope to provide colleagues at other institutions with a resource for integrating built environments into ancient history and classical civilization courses.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with comments or suggestions at [log in to unmask]

Thanks for your time,

Garrett
