Hi Anne

We have a number of ‘strategies’ for this…

Like Keith we now often leave it to our marketing types to organise an external photographer to shoot publicity shots, although I suspect the ‘models’ they use are often ‘friends and family’ to save on costs, they also organise the consent forms!
We have signs up saying you may be photographed as part of this public event, please contact staff if you’re not happy to be photographed etc
We coerce staff members into ‘volunteering’ to be ‘members of the public’… J
School groups are often the easiest to work with, our education people contact the schools and see if permissions are already in place, they mostly are so that the school itself can film and photograph at events. Just to be safe I always ask teachers on the day if anyone within the group does not have consent, I then simply avoid photographing them.

Cheers
Jim

I try my best not to photograph the public now but leave it to our Marketing Dept. if they require public shots, otherwise I would spend my life filling in consent forms on Gallery.

Keith.

Subject: Photography Consent Forms

Hi folks, I was just wondering if organisations are having to tighten up on photographing/videoing the general public (and indeed staff) at events etc. in light of the new GDPR regulations brought in earlier this year. Are you having to get permissions from individual participants and not just have 'cover all' signage on display. Any info on how it's working for you would be most appreciated.

Many thanks,
Anne
