Hi all,

At City, University of London, we're looking into different ways of presenting our questions on Gender ID for students and staff, in line with our HESA return.

The questions recommended by HESA appear to be being misunderstood, and we want to ensure that these questions are as clearly worded as possible, so that we can evidence a robust dataset which enables us to make meaningful enhancements for our transgender, intersex and gender non-conforming students and staff.

Would colleagues be happy to share their own practice in this area, where their questions appear to have been clearly and consistently understood by respondents? This will hopefully contribute to helping us to better understand our student and staff populations, and to continue our work in this area.

If you are happy to share your internal practice, please reply directly to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. If colleagues would find it useful, I am happy to collate and disseminate findings.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best wishes,
Jack
