Dear Colleagues

I would like to draw to your attention to another opportunity to join our vibrant, innovative and enthusiastic team which has arisen due to promotion of one of our existing Band 7 Clinical Scientists. We are a large department providing extensive core and specialist services for all patients from neonates to adults. We handle specialist referred work from a large number of hospitals within and beyond our region. Additionally the department includes one of the largest newborn screening laboratories in the country, screening babies across Greater Manchester and Lancashire for a number of serious conditions.

Our laboratory is a great place to continue your training. All of our Consultant staff have a strong commitment to supporting training – two of us are previous ACB regional tutors, two currently RCPath examiners and three of us module leaders for the MSc in Clinical Sciences (Blood Sciences) at the University of Manchester which is testimony to our commitment. There are regular CPD and clinical case meetings in the department and additional support is always available at an individual level. There are numerous opportunities at undertake assay and service development projects and to work closely at the clinical interface attending ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.

You would be joining a team of Clinical Scientists – in addition to this post there are 3 other Band 7 Senior Clinical Scientists, 6 Principal Clinical Scientists and 4 Consultants. There is also a strong network of trainees within the North West which has always been at the forefront of training.
We would welcome applications from trainees in their second or third year of training and can support your training through to completion.

Manchester is a great place to live – a vibrant city with bars, clubs, theatres and music venues - life is never boring. To cap it all the city is only a stone’s throw away from beautiful countryside for walking and relaxing.

The post is advertised on NHS jobs , reference 349-CSS-1771. The closing date is 11 December . If you would like to come and talk to us about it or look around the department please contact me on 0161-701-5167 or e-mail [log in to unmask] We look forward to hearing from you.

Lesley
