Hi all,

I mentioned earlier this year that a team of us have been working on a study of bike share in Greater Manchester.

We completed it this month so I thought I’d send round a link in case it’s of interest.

Our study is based on a survey of people working in, living in, or visiting Greater Manchester over a 12 month period (June 2017 to 2018), comprising 2270 online responses and 27 phone interviews.

The research provides insights into perceptions and experiences of bike share generally and the Mobike dockless bike scheme in particular. As many of you will know, Mobike withdrew their bikes from the area this autumn, citing low usership, theft and vandalism. Our report provides a snapshot of this relatively short period of operation, aids understanding of why take up was not as high as Mobike would have liked, and looks to the future in terms of what lessons can be learned from it.
