Well, as we know, many would say 'community psychology' is old ideas dressed up as new. Which, as with social prescribing, is not a cuss on the profound importance of the work. Just the need to bring in the question, as ever, in whose interests do these language games work, and with what effect. With social prescribing, as with community psychology, some of the most radical, lefty GPs are involved doing brilliant work. But Theresa May can pick it up as something new to win a mandate rather than look at why it is necessary right now. Which is partly, of course, the decimation of the social fabric such that things need to be prescribed to 'some' and not freely available for all.
