Dear colleagues I have the pleasure to announce the setting on line, on the website of the Archives Henri Poincaré, of the database « Les auteurs de l’Association Française pour l’Avancement des Sciences 1872-1914". http://prosopo.ahp-numerique.fr/s/afas/page/accueil <http://prosopo.ahp-numerique.fr/s/afas/page/accueil> This association played a big role in the structuring and organization of learned communities in France. The association organized an annual congress in a French city and the contributions were then collected and published. The database collects the names of 5,773 people associated with these conferences as well as the bibliographic references of their contributions (more than 17,874 items). This database was developed by Philippe Varrin in the Group of History and Diffusion of Sciences of Orsay at the end of the 1990s. It had largely fed the historical work directed by Hélène Gispert, Par la science pour la patrie - L'Association française pour l'avançement des sciences, 1872-1914 : Un projet politique pour une société savante (2002).
