Dear colleagues

This is the FINAL call for contributions to the special issue of JEAP on Halliday’s influence on the practice of EAP. We now have more people who have said they will send a proposal than those who have actually sent one, so please put fingers to keyboard and send all proposals by the deadline of 15th September!

In acknowledgement of the recent passing of Michael Halliday, in recognition of his enormous influence on the practice of EAP, and prompted by discussion on the BALEAP mailing list, the Journal of English for Academic Purposes has decided to commemorate his work in a special issue.

Specifically, the focus of the special issue will be on how the teaching, learning and professional practice of EAP have benefited from Michael's work. (So we are not seeking papers that only present an SFL analysis of academic texts; there should be a demonstrated application to EAP practice.)

If you would like to contribute by proposing a shorter or longer paper, or offering to help with reviewing, please see the attached for the publication schedule.

September 15th 2018 is the deadline for article abstracts/outlines and offers to support the review process. JEAP includes both full length articles and shorter practice-focused papers.

Sheena Gardner ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and Jim Donohue ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) are the editors for this special issue, to be published in 2019, supported by the JEAP editors, Paul Thompson and Hilary Nesi.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you on this project.

Best wishes

Jim & Sheena
