We are pleased to announce the launch of a simple platform for sharing and exchanging experiences with digital preservation tool workflows.

The Community Owned Workflows (COW) project began as part of a workshop at the iPRES conference two years ago. Participants (including members of the OSSArcFlow Project) came together to discuss a common desire to share, debate and discuss their digital preservation workflows. It was felt that although the community was discussing what tools it was using, it wasn’t exchanging information on how it was combining those tools together to achieve results within a particular scenario. An approach was therefore developed to quickly and simply capture the key details of a workflow and its organisational context and share it openly, while providing space for discussion and for comparison of different workflows. In order to do this in an agile way with limited resources, COW has utilised space on the COPTR preservation tools wiki, with the aim of experimenting and then evaluating the approach used to see whether a more comprehensive solution is necessary. Despite stalling, COW has recently been restarted and is now ready to share with the wider community! We would love to have your workflow contributions, thoughts and feedback.

On a not unrelated final note… A COPTR Editathon will be taking place at this years iPRES conference on Monday 24th September at 0900EDT. If you would like to join remotely, please sign up here:
