National Postgraduate Colloquium in German Studies

COMMITTEE VACANCY

Applications are invited to fill a vacancy arising on the National Postgraduate Colloquium in German Studies Committee in November 2018.

The National Postgraduate Colloquium in German Studies is a biannual event organised in association with the Institute of Modern Languages Research (IMLR - formerly Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies) at the University of London. Launched in 1987, it provides an informal and friendly forum for graduate students in all areas of German Studies to present and discuss their current research. The 2-day meeting in the spring takes place at the IMLR; the autumn 1-day meeting is hosted by another university in the UK.

The organising committee consists of four UK-based postgraduate students in German studies, joined by the local organiser(s) of the autumn colloquium. Committee work includes organising the the colloquia, assessing the applications as well as setting up and chairing the panels. There is no set duration of service but a continuous membership of two years would be desirable.

A vacancy will arise in November 2018. The committee welcomes applications from across the UK, as it seeks to represent geographical and institutional variation across Great Britain, as well as to encourage gender diversity. Given the current representation on the committee, it would particularly welcome nominations from students in their 1st year of postgraduate research and from outside the Greater London area.

If you are interested in joining the committee, please send an email with a brief statement outlining your interest (200 words max) to Stephanie Obermeier at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Closing date for receipt of applications: 14 September 2018.

We look forward to reading your applications!
Organising Committee: Stephanie Obermeier<mailto:[log in to unmask]> (Kent); Sina Stuhlert<mailto:[log in to unmask]> (Bristol); Samuel Thompson<mailto:[log in to unmask]> (Oxford); Rebecca Wismeg<mailto:[log in to unmask]> (King’s College London).
