CIG Conference 2018 - Library visits in Edinburgh, Tuesday 4th September

Bookings are now open to non-delegates of the Conference.

This year's Cataloguing & Indexing Group Conference takes place in Edinburgh on the 5-7th of September, with the theme Metadata: Create, Share and Enrich.  Registration has been extended to the 15th of August, so you still have time to book your place via the Conference website

To coincide with the conference, CIG and CIG Scotland have organised a number of library visits in Edinburgh.  These will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday the 4th of September, the day before the conference starts.

The visits are now open to non-delegates, so if you unable to attend the conference you can still visit one or more visits to these fascinating institutions.

Please find details below.  The visits are free and can be booked via the following links.

We look forward to welcoming you in Edinburgh next month.

The visit to the Library’s main building on George IV Bridge will include a guided tour of the building and introduction to the Library's history and collections, taking in the exhibitions, the General Reading Room, and a view of the closed stacks.  Tours will start at 2pm and 4pm, and last around 50 minutes

Scottish Poetry Library

At 30 years old, the Scottish Poetry Library is the youngest of the Libraries in our series of visits, yet based in the historic heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.   An award winning building, it is the only purpose-built poetry library in the UK.  The Library’s collections are international and primarily modern, with a special focus on Scottish poetry.

The visit will start at 2pm and include a tour of the Library, followed by an informal talk on the cataloguing and indexing work carried out there.   Visits will last around 1 hour
