Hi Nick,

Thank you very much for this update.

I just wanted to let you know that the link at the end of your email is not working on my computer (mac). It may be something particular to my equipment or something about the link (so you may need to know).

With best wishes,

Manya

Subject: reports on the value of occupational health

In 2017 the Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) set out the value proposition for occupational health services and the benefits of occupational health. Occupational health: the value proposition cites evidence that shows organisations most commonly rank occupational health involvement as the most effective method for managing the problem of employee long-term absence from work. The document also reports that a healthy workplace culture and the adoption of a systematic approach to occupational health can contribute to the success of an organisation. To view the report Occupational health: the value proposition please click here. To download the three leaflets that have been produced alongside the report, please click on the following links:

·         Occupational health: A guide for company directors and commissioners of services

·         Occupational health: A guide for line managers and HR professionals

·         Occupational health: A guide for workers and their representatives

In 2018, the SOM, launched “Occupational Health: the Global Value and Evidence”. This new whitepaper discusses the value of Occupational Health (OH) from a global perspective and provides a synthesis of global evidence on the effectiveness of OH interventions and cost effectiveness.   The paper demonstrates that Occupational Health services have a clear value: they improve the health of the working population; contribute to the prevention of work-related illnesses; prevent avoidable sickness absence through the provision of early interventions for those who develop a health condition; and increase the efficiency and productivity of organisations. They can also play a major part in protecting and revitalising the global economy. See
