*Dear all,Appologies for cross-posting.A few announcements on behalf of the PrecAnthro and Anthropology of Labour Network.First and foremost, EASA now has approved the new Anthropology of Labour Network! Yay! And Thursday 16th promises a great concentration on anthropology of labour/labour in anthropology at EASA2018. What we have in plan:9:00-13:00 The Anthropology of Labour’s first panel, in two sessions (P056) Beyond precarity: the politics of hope, care, and solidarity under conditions of unsettling (im)mobility <https://nomadit.co.uk/easa/easa2018/conferencesuite.php/panels/6424>, organised by Mariya Ivancheva and Dan Hirslund, at SÖ-E39713:00-14:30 #PrecAnthro II: The return of armchair anthropology? Debating the ethics and politics of big projects <https://www.easaonline.org/conferences/easa2018/events.shtml#precanth>, organised by Alice Tilche and Giacomo Loperfido, at Aula Magna-Auditorium 17:00-18:45 at the AGM/Members’ Forum <https://www.easaonline.org/conferences/easa2018/events.shtml#forum> Martin Fotta will present some preliminary results of the EASA & PrecAnthro survey and we will have some minutes to discuss where we take it from there, at Aula Magna-Auditorium19-20:30 The Anthropology of Labour’s launch and first network event <https://www.easaonline.org/conferences/easa2018/events.shtml#net2> will also take place on the 16th of August, convenors Mariya Ivancheva and Dan Hirslund at SÖ-D220. We hope to see you during the panel and the PrecAnthro event! You are also very much invited and encouraged to join the labour network and come to our launching event where we will discuss the network’s purpose and activities. One aspect that is very important for the convenors - Mariya Ivancheva and Dan Hirslund, members of PrecAnthro as well - is to underline the political work that this network wishes to do. While we wish to provide space for all colleagues working on topics related to the anthropology of labour broadly defined, the effort of the network stemmed from PrecAnthro, and we wish to discuss labour in anthropology within the network as well. For this reason, the discussion on the launching event on the 16th will also have the purpose to debate how to combine the two activities in a productive dialogue. That will include discussions on:- The topics of interest around labour anthropology and what we focus on.- The ways in which we cooperate with/allow space for PrecAnthro - e.g. one of our purposes was to have funding for precarious anthropologists and those willing to work toward an international anthropology union to meet and discuss between biannual EASA sessions. - The topic and an organising committee for network meeting 2019.In solidarity and see you next week,Mariya & Dan & Martin on behalf of PrecAnthro & Anthropology of Labour NetworkP.S. another confirmed precarity-related event is on Friday, 17th: the Plenary C Early Career Scholars’ Forum <https://www.easaonline.org/conferences/easa2018/events.shtml#plenc>* -- M. ************************************************************* * Anthropology-Matters Mailing List * http://www.anthropologymatters.com * * A postgraduate project comprising online journal, * * online discussions, teaching and research resources * * and international contacts directory. * * To join this list or to look at the archived previous * * messages visit: * * https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/Anthropology-Matters * * If you have ALREADY subscribed: to send a message to all * * those currently subscribed to the list, just send mail to: * * [log in to unmask] * * * * Enjoyed the mailing list?
