Family Planning 2020 is an international partnership organisation. its data section measures progress in over 60 target nations using a range of indicators.

Popline- POPLINE provides access to 380,000 carefully selected publications and resources related to family planning and reproductive health. It is a free resource, maintained by the Knowledge for Health (K4Health) Project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Global Health, Office of Population and Reproductive Health, and is led by the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs

 

Prison history

Really great free database under construction from research funded by the AHRC and The Open University.  Prison History contains information on  surviving archives for, 843 English local prisons  convict prisons (17), prison hulks (30) and lock ups (378) used to confine those accused and convicted of crime in the period 1800-1899. Browse by prison to get statistics, locations, lists of primary sources available and a selection of secondary histories. The site also has a directory of links to other prison history resources.  It is possible to download a free ebook edition of the database.

 

The Great Irish Famine Online.
Another amazing new project launch from a collaboration between staff at University College Cork  Geography Department and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht . It enables researchers to trace the history and impact of the famine in Ireland down to loca,l parish and town areas. There is a general map of potato blight effect on society 1841-1851 and more detailed sections with the impact on population and socioeconomic factors in rural and urban areas. Very detailed mapping with a great looking display. Materials on occupation, housing and education and their link with the famine are being added .

She Got the Vote: suffrage in Buckinghamshire
A really interesting site from the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies which aims to explore the lives and impact of suffrage upon local women who got the vote in 1918. They are gradually adding biographies of the lives of local women who entered the electoral roll in 1918.

OECD Health database 2018
Just launched the latest set of statistics in a database which is one of the best sources
for comparable statistics on health and health systems across OECD countries .Topics include the health care workforce; economics and funding and log-term care. The tables can be customized. For instance the standard dates can be reset to provide coverage from 1960-2018. The full list of indicators are here

North Korean Serials Index.
Free access to this abstracting database from the magnificent library of Congress. It provides over 34,000 index records for 18 Korean language journals published since 1948. They offer great insight into the social, political, economic and economic and geopolitics of the region. Incidentally as the subject terms are indexed in English even without knowledge of Korean you can get an overview of the content!

Other useful sitres on current North Korean events include:

38 North – Henry L. Stimson center. which analyses political, economic and social developments in the region as well as controversies surrounding nuclear weapons. It also has a digital atlas.

KNCAWatch a simple interface for accessing and searching official North Korean media. These include: . Korean Central News Agency (English) Rodong Simun (English) (Official Newspaper of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party Of Korea)

There are archives from 1997 onwards. It is also possible to generate charts of word occurrencies  from about 1990 wards. Some content of the site requires a subscription.
