Overview:

Information workers are highly qualified, very professional and have a unique skill set. As the world of librarianship continues to be impacted by government cuts, this workshop is a chance to capture and reflect on your personal key skill sets and learn how to transfer them to other roles and environments.

The day will provide a great opportunity to reflect on your career story so far and  inspire you to progress to your next chapter!  Using interactive and structured exercises, Erica will help you to take a look at your roles and experiences to date, define what success looks like for you and devise an exciting personalised career plan to help you move forward and make confident and successful career decisions.

Aimed at staff from all areas and grades of library and information work, the course will provide a refreshing new outlook when considering your career aspirations.

By the end of the day participants will have:

…taken an ‘inventory’ of their transferable skills and be equipped to tell stories about them

….identified a career goal that inspires them and developed a plan to achieve it

…explored the barriers and beliefs that might get in the way of switching careers and successfully moved through them

…created a market-friendly ‘positioning statement’ for use at interviews and when writing CV’s
