last week, I have subscribed to the INT-BOUNDARIES
list.
Therefore, I would like to introduce myself
to you. My name is Eberhard Schäfer, and I am working in the mapping division
at MAIRDUMONT (https://www.mairdumont.com/en/),
Germany's and Europe's market leader for travel information.
Our cartographic product portfolio covers
the broad range from hiking maps to world atlasses, and especially in our
smaller scales, the issue of political borders is of high importance.
We are right now re-evaluating our map symbols,
which also includes all types of political boundaries (state and administrative
level).
Our main focus is firstly, what categories
of boundaries should be shown on maps (defined by contract / disputed de
facto / disputed claimed / cease fire line / ...?), and secondly, to get
an updated overview about disputed borders worldwide and the category they
fall in.
I am quite sure that you and this list is
the right address for us to get quite a bit of the information we need
:-)
