Dear Colleagues, We would like to call your attention to a session at AGU on geochronologic/thermochronologic applications to sedimentary basin history and processes. *T007: Chronologic Constraints on the Processes and Tempos of Orogenesis Archived in Sedimentary Basins* Session Description: The contents of sedimentary basins reflect the product of both tectonic and climatically mediated surface processes, and thus provide an exceptional archive of changes, perturbations, and interactions between these earth systems over geologic time. Advances in geochronology and thermochronology applied to sedimentary basin deposits have led to unprecedented temporal resolution of proxies linked to surface processes and tectonics including sedimentation and erosion rates, unroofing patterns, orogenic exhumation, and changes in paleogeography and river network geometry. Increasing geographic/stratigraphic coverage with these methods presents new opportunities to identify and quantify processes driven by tectonics and/or surface processes that are universal across orogenic systems. This session seeks contributions that employ geochronological and thermochronological data from sedimentary basins and/or numerical approaches to investigate orogenic processes. We particularly encourage applications that have implications for the broader tectonics community including basin analysis, structural geology, geomorphology, and geophysics.
