hat is indeed an important distinction. To be fair journals that do charge an APC for OA publishing can still be either for profit or not for profit.

Being aware of full OA publishing venues becomes more important as funders are moving in the direction of no longer financially supporting hybrid journal publications (e.g. in Horizon Europe/FP9), or perhaps even requiring publication in fully open access journals.

hi there,
yes doaj the main indexe, it includes both for-profit OA and "real OA" (what I call OA where there's no costs for authors)-
We have a list of real OA journals in many languages in planning, geography, urban studies on the blog of the YAs https://aesopyoungacademics.wordpress.com/list-of-oa-journals/
And of course Simon Batterbury's list in geography and congnate disciplines: https://simonbatterbury.wordpress.com/2015/10/25/list-of-decent-open-access-journals/
Best wishes,
Simone
