We invite applications for a fully-funded PhD studentship jointly hosted by CHICAS and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University. The project is on developing statistical methodology for designing disease surveillance programmes for dynamical infectious disease models, with the constraint that surveillance effort is independent of the disease transmission process. The project will run alongside an ongoing collaboration in Uganda and Malawi which seeks to understand the drivers of antimicrobial resistance in low-resouce settings. This project would particularly suit a student with a statistics and/or computer science background, with an interest in methodological development alongside an important substantive application. For further information, please contact Chris Jewell <[log in to unmask]>. Eligibility: The studentship is open to UK applicants only. Duration: Three years funding is provided. Start: October 2018.
