Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biophysics at UMass Amherst

A postdoctoral Research Associate position in the area of Computational Biophysics will be available in the University of Massachusetts Amherst Institute of Applied Life Sciences (IALS), a fast-growing enterprise dedicated to developing the next generation of life science products and technologies to improve human health. The candidate will be able to work on a range of areas including computational method development and multi-scale simulation of various biological systems. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related field, with extensive experience and strong publication record in biomolecular modeling and simulation. Successful applicants should also have a strong background in scientific computing and statistical mechanics and display excellent general knowledge and understanding of biophysics, computation and biomolecular modeling. Experience with CUDA programming is a big plus. An ideal candidate would be technically competent, with excellent computational skills, and strong programming and scripting ability. S/He should also display exceptional motivation with a passion for science, and the ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team.

The starting annual salary will be at least $47,500 plus benefits depending experience. Initial appointments will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for at least three years.
