Dear colleagues

I am writing to ask you to encourage your senior undergraduate students
to consider and apply to the Biophysics Program
<http://www.marylandbiophysics.umd.edu/> at the University of Maryland
College Park (UMD) <https://www.umd.edu/>. The admission deadline is
*Thursday, January
3, 2019*.

The unique aspect of this cutting-edge program is bringing together faculty
from different disciplines, such as Biology, Physics, Biochemistry,
Mathematics, Bioengineering, and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering,
to train aspiring trans-disciplinary future researchers. Furthermore, the
program has a broad range of research activities and close connections to
nearby national laboratories, including the National Institute of Health
<https://www.nih.gov/>(NIH) and the National Institute of Standards and
Technology <https://www.nist.gov/> (NIST). Thus, students have a tremendous
chance to conduct research in UMD laboratories and/or in state of the arts
NIH laboratories.

We are seeking students with any background in science or en
gineering, who have a desire to work at the interface of several disciplines
and share our enthusiasm in tackling the next generation of
problems in the complex world of biology and biomedical science. Our
curriculum is flexible and tailored to each student's background and research
interests.

For more information on the Biophysics program at UMD, please visit the
program website <http://www.marylandbiophysics.umd.edu/>. A program flyer
can be found here <https://twitter.com/tiwarylab/status/1010214058597941248>,
which you may send to your students and other faculty members, who might be
interested in the Maryland Biophysics Program.

Regards
Pratyush
