Trainee Librarian

Two-year appointment, part time (28 hours per week), starting September 2018

Salary £18,777 (pro rata)

The Oxford Union Society is seeking a Trainee Librarian to become part of its library team for two years starting in September 2018.  This part time (4 days a week) post will ideally suit someone undertaking part time or distance learning study for a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or a related field.  Duties will be varied and will include providing loans and enquiry services to readers, cataloguing and classifying new books and preparing displays of new library materials.  In addition you will act as secretary to the Library Committee and will have the opportunity to undertake project work in the library. 

You should be a graduate, or expect to graduate before September 2018  Previous library experience is desirable and you should be able to demonstrate a firm commitment to postgraduate study.  Good communication skills, teamskills and a customer focus will be important, as will be the ability to manage time effectively.
