[cid:image001.png@01D40FAE.BCF7A760] Dear Colleagues, Following the success of last year, we are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of the Winter School on Geomechanics for Energy and the Environment, which will be held on January 22nd-24th 2019, in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland. Geomechanics, Environment and Energy are increasingly related and contemporary themes. The goal of the school is to provide participants with a deep understanding on selected topics in Geomechanics which are fundamental for applications related to Energy and the Environment. This Winter School is organized in the framework of the international journal Geomechanics for Energy and the Environment.<https://www.journals.elsevier.com/geomechanics-for-energy-and-the-environment> The 2019 course program Lectures are given by internationally renowned experts in the field: [cid:image002.png@01D40FAE.BCF7A760] Lectures are given on sight in the first part of the day. Extended breaks are given to review the course material, to go skiing, or to enjoy the wonderful landscape of the Swiss Alps at Villars-sur-Ollon. Late-afternoon gatherings are foreseen for lectures. Evening sessions will be devoted to presentations from the participants to share ideas with the experts. The venue The workshop will be held in Villars-sur-Ollon, in the heart of the Vaud Alps. Villars is a Swiss resort famous all over the world for its wonderful landscapes. The resort offers numerous sports and cultural activities for visitors of all ages. Perfect location of Villars - close to Lake Geneva - results in a breathtaking panorama extending from the lake to Mont-Blanc.
