Hello!
I would like to add my signature to this open letter to the Mirror.
I worked at the NHS in Luton in the Stop Smoking Service as a Specialist, for 8 years as I have a Psychology background.
For years our service experienced many cuts and reorganisations, that ended in the service being handed over to the private sector and staff were either " persuaded" to leave or redeployed. Hence I am now retired!!

Subject: Urgent - signatories needed for open letter to Mirror about impending Tory NHS funding announcement

Dear friends,

The Mirror has agreed to print the attached open letter from health professionals about the expected announcement in the next day or two from the Conservatives of a possible increase in NHS funding of 3% per annum. The letter argues that this increase, while welcome, is not enough to repair the damage of years of underfunding and secure the future of the NHS, and also raises related issue that would need to be tackled to ensure the future of the NHS and the public health such as ending the market, funding social care properly and ending austerity.

The timescale is very short and we would need the signatories by 10 am tomorrow morning. The Mirror is going to subedit the attached letter but will not change its substance or add anything so the final version will not be identical to what is attached but will have the same essential messages and no other messages.

If you are happy to sign on that basis please urgently get back to me with your name, your job title, and the place, town or area you work in.

I am sending this to the people who signed the various letters to the Times and the Telegraph in opposition to the Health and Social Care Bill, guessing you may support the points in this letter too.

We are sending it to the Mirror because they have already done some great NHS coverage and will be featuring the NHS again in the week leading up to the demonstration on 30 June to celebrate and protest about the NHS on its 70th anniversary.

If you’d like more information about the demo please look at the Health Campaigns Together website: www.healthcampaignstogether.com

best wishes

Louise
