COFFÁU PROFIAD CYMRU O’R RHYFEL MAWR AR Y MÔR

3-4 Tachwedd 2018
Neuadd Pater, Lewis Street, Doc Penfro, SA72 6DD

Bydd y gynhadledd ddau ddiwrnod hon yn edrych ar brofiad y llongwyr a chymunedau Cymreig a fu ynghlwm wrth weithgareddau’r Llynges Frenhinol, y llynges fasnachol a’r diwydiant pysgota yn ystod y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf. Nodau’r gynhadledd fydd rhoi sylw i’r ymchwil a’r prosiectau yr ymgymerwyd â nhw yn ystod cyfnod y coffáu, ac ysgogi mwy o ymchwil a phrosiectau treftadaeth cymunedol mewn perthynas ag effeithiau hirbarhaol y rhyfel wedi iddo ddod i ben.

Galwad am Gyfraniadau
Gall cyfraniadau gael eu gwneud drwy gyflwyniadau neu weithdai ffurfiol, neu’n fwy anffurfiol yn ystod y sesiwn ‘anghynhadledd’ neu drwy osod stondin arddangos. Rydym yn croesawu cyfraniadau drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, y Saesneg, neu’n ddwyieithog. Rydym hefyd yn annog menywod i gynnig cyflwyniadau. Yn sesiynau’r gynhadledd bydd papurau sy’n para am tua 30 munud yn cael eu cyflwyno. Bydd hefyd gyfres o sesiynau 15 munud llai ffurfiol. Anogwn unigolion a grwpiau sy’n cymryd rhan ym Mhrosiect Llongau-U Cymru i gyflwyno gwaith a gwblhawyd, sydd ar y gweill neu sydd yn yr arfaeth, yn y sesiynau hyn.

Themâu a Thopigau
Croesawn yn arbennig bapurau sy’n ymdrin â:

  * Themâu, digwyddiadau a phobl sydd hyd yma heb gael eu coffáu
  *   Y profiad dynol o ryfel ar y môr

  * Dyletswyddau’r llynges fasnachol yn ystod y rhyfel
  *   Technoleg a’r rhyfel ar y môr
  * Cofio’r rhyfel ar y môr: cofebau, cofiannau a diwylliant materol
  *   Hanes teulu a chanlyniadau’r rhyfel ar y môr
  *   Rolau a phrofiadau menywod a merched
  * Rolau a phrofiadau Cymunedau Ethnig Lleiafrifol
  * Barn y cyhoedd a sylw’r cyfryngau mewn perthynas â’r llyngesau/llynges fasnachol cyn, yn ystod ac ar ôl y rhyfel

Gweithdai
Fe fydd hefyd arddangosiadau ymarferol neu hyfforddiant ar ddefnyddio adnoddau ar-lein I ymchwilwyr. I wneud cais am gyflwyniad, trafodaeth seminar neu weithdy, byddwch cystal ag anfon cynnig byr (300 gair) ynghyd â’ch enw a’ch sefydliad.

Dyddiad cau ar gyfer ceisiadau
Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer cyflwyno papurau, seminarau a gweithdai yw Dydd Mercher, 1 Awst 2018. Bydd penderfyniadau’n cael eu gwneud ar ôl ystyried rhinweddau’r ceisiadau unigol a pha mor berthnasol ydynt i’r rhaglen gyffredinol. Byddwn yn rhoi gwybod i ymgeiswyr am ein penderfyniad erbyn Dydd Gwener, 17 Awst 2018.
Cynigir cofrestru di-dâl ar gyfer y digwyddiad i’r rheiny fydd yn cyflwyno papur neu weithdy. Byddwch cystal â nodi: er ein bod ni’n annog ymgeiswyr i gyflwyno ceisiadau sy’n cynnwys mwy nag un siaradwr, ni allwn gynnig ond un cofrestriad di-dâl ar gyfer pob cais. Ni allwn gynnig unrhyw dreuliau eraill. Yn achos ymgeiswyr tramor, byddwn yn ystyried y posibilrwydd o gyflwyno papurau drwy ffrydio gwe byw.

COMMEMORATING THE WELSH EXPERIENCE OF THE GREAT WAR AT SEA

3-4 November 2018
Pater Hall, Lewis Street, Pembroke Dock, SA72 6DD

This two-day conference explores the experience of the mariners and communities of Wales who were engaged in Royal Navy, mercantile marine and fishing industries during the First World War. The conference is intended both to showcase research and projects which have been undertaken during the commemorative period, but also to encourage further research and community-led heritage projects that explore the continuing impact of the conflict in the post-war period.

Call for Contributions
Contributions can be made through formal presentations or workshops, or more informally during the ‘unconference’ session or by setting up a show stand. We welcome contributions through the medium of Welsh, English, or bilingually. We also actively encourage presentations by women. Conference sessions will feature papers of around 30 minutes duration. There will also be a series of less formal 15-minute sessions. We actively encourage individuals and groups participating in the U-boat Project Wales to present their past, current and upcoming work in these sessions.

Themes and Topics
We particularly welcome papers which explore:

  * Themes, events and people that commemoration has so far left unremembered
  * The human experience of maritime conflict
  * The wartime duties of the merchant marine
  * Technology and the war at sea

  * Remembering the war at sea: memorials, memoirs and material culture

  * Family history and the legacy of maritime war

  * The roles undertaken and experience of women and girls
  * The roles undertaken and experience of other Minority Ethnic Communities
  * Public opinion and media coverage relating to the navies/merchant marine before, during and after the conflict

Workshops
There will also be practical, hands-on demonstrations or training in the use of online resources for researchers. To make a submission for a presentation, seminar discussion or workshop, please send us a short proposal (300 words) together with your name and organisation.

Deadline for submissions
The deadline for the submission of papers, seminars and workshops is Wednesday, 1 August 2018. Decisions will be made after consideration of the merits of the individual submissions and their fit into the overall programme. We will notify applicants about our decision by Friday, 17 August 2018.
Free registration for the event will be extended to those presenting a paper or workshop. Please note that while we strongly encourage submissions which include more than one speaker, we can only offer one free registration per submission. We regret that no further expenses can be offered. For overseas applicants, presentation of papers via live-web streaming may be considered.
