University of Cumbria E-mail Disclaimer

Hi Everyone,

This email thread was sent to me by a colleague as she felt it would be something I could get involved with, so I hope you don’t mind me crashing the party!  I am the Online Learning Resources Coordinator for the University College of Estate Management; we are a completely online university.  Many of our module leaders run webinars and our CPD is run via webinars.  Whilst it is something that I haven’t got a lot of experience of at the time (only been here less than 3 months) it is something that I plan to do regarding the library skills at differing levels.

I would love to take part in a webinar on webinars!!  I’m happy to pass on my limited experience and my future plans!!

I think this would be a brilliant idea as it is something more and more institutions are looking into with the increasing numbers of online and part time courses on offer.

In terms of dates, I’d say avoid the week immediately after the end of May bank holiday, but apart from that, anything would be good.

Thanks,

Sarah

Ok, so I have an idea brewing…

I know colleagues at Leeds have done webinars as have we at Beckett. In fact, we both presented at ALDinHE 2017 in Hull as well as at the regional symposium here at Beckett last year. I think Hull have as well – presented this year in Leicester?

Why don’t we arrange a virtual symposium (i.e. webinar) on webinars? Where we can share experiences, evaluate platforms and swap top tips?

Would that be feasible? I don’t mind hosting it (we use Adobe Connect here at Beckett). How about interested parties respond to me with suggestions of dates, structure and content and we’ll take it from there…

Hello Sandie,

We are also looking to trial webinars and I too, would be interested to hear responses to your query. I would be particularly interested in free webinar software out there – we are currently experimenting with Google Hangouts. If you are happy to share any responses you receive, I, and no doubt many on this list, would be very grateful!

Best wishes,

Ella.

Hello all

We’re wanting to make use of webinars as part of our workshop support for students for library and skills support.  If any of you are already doing this/have tried this, any tips and practice you’d be happy to share?

Thanks all, Sandie
