At Reading we have been using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra for about a year and I’ve worked with TEL colleagues and other academic developers to run developmental webinars with our academics, exploring ways to embed a principled pedagogic approach to synchronous online learning.

I’d be v happy to contribute to this- looking at types of activities that work well and what we use webinars for here.

Best wishes

That’s wonderful, Katherine.

I think exploring different platforms would be useful, from our perspective, but also the different types of activities and topics that webinars are most conducive for.

Could we look at dates in late May/June perhaps?

Best wishes

Ella.

Ok, so I have an idea brewing…

I know colleagues at Leeds have done webinars as have we at Beckett. In fact, we both presented at ALDinHE 2017 in Hull as well as at the regional symposium here at Beckett last year. I think Hull have as well – presented this year in Leicester?

Why don’t we arrange a virtual symposium (i.e. webinar) on webinars? Where we can share experiences, evaluate platforms and swap top tips?

Would that be feasible? I don’t mind hosting it (we use Adobe Connect here at Beckett). How about interested parties respond to me with suggestions of dates, structure and content and we’ll take it from there…

Hello Sandie,

We are also looking to trial webinars and I too, would be interested to hear responses to your query. I would be particularly interested in free webinar software out there – we are currently experimenting with Google Hangouts. If you are happy to share any responses you receive, I, and no doubt many on this list, would be very grateful!

Best wishes,

Ella.

Subject: webinar workshops

Hello all

We’re wanting to make use of webinars as part of our workshop support for students for library and skills support.  If any of you are already doing this/have tried this, any tips and practice you’d be happy to share?

Thanks all, Sandie
