I am happy to share some exciting opportunities for PhD students and Early Careers.
RSA Early Career Grant Scheme
This award is open to individual applicants in their early career (five years maximum between the date showing on the certificate and the application deadline).
The value of the grant is up to £10,000 (c. €11500; $12,000). The RSA Early Career Grant is provided to support a discrete piece of regional studies and/or regional science research. The grant has a maximum time span of 18 months and reporting conditions apply.

The Expression of Interest should include the following:

  *   Applicant information details: Title, name, surname
  *   RSA membership number
  *   Postal address
  *   Telephone number and email for correspondence
  *   Name of Higher Education Institution (HEI)
  *   Title of the research project
  *   Timings of the research
  *   Details of research and the advances it is hoped to make
  *   Brief overview of costs and budget

The submission deadline for the Expression of Interest is 31st May 2018.

2018 RSA Europe's Socio-Spatial Dynamics Summer College, Cagliari, Sardinia
Novel Approaches to Sustainable and Inclusive Development
4th- 7th September 2018
The RSA Europe's Summer College has been established to focus on how ideas, theories, methods and data can be leveraged across disciplines for the purpose of scientific advancement.  Applications are welcome from PhD candidates and post-docs who have been awarded a PhD in the past 5 years, from a variety of disciplines and institutional backgrounds.
Application process
Complete the application form. This requires you to include three specific research questions that you would like to discuss whilst at the RSA Europe's Summer College and an extended abstract of your PhD thesis (3 pages max). The following documents must be uploaded:

  *   A 3-minute (max) video introducing yourself and outlining your current research project (PhD thesis or research project if post-doctoral fellow).
  *   One-page statement of interest connected to the theme of the RSA Europe's Summer College.
  *   Two page CV
All documents and the video should be submitted by Friday, 15th June 2018.

Regional Studies, Regional Science EARLY CAREER PAPERS SECTION
The editors of the Early Career Papers section are currently seeking submissions of paper proposals for short articles (max. 3,000 words). Contributions are welcomed from any discipline in the field of regional studies or regional science and with any geographical focus. SUBMISSION DEADLINE 31st July 2018.
