*Call for abstracts: Special issue on L2 writing in diverse contextsSpecial
Issue Guest Editors: Nur Yigitoglu (Bogazici University) & Diane Belcher
(Georgia State University)Previous literature on second language (L2)
writing focuses on writing in contexts where English is the dominant
surrounding language. However, a great deal of L2 writing and writing
instruction is undertaken in various languages and in diverse foreign
language contexts around the world. This special issue of the Boğaziçi
University Journal of Education* aims to address this imbalance in the
literature by focusing on foreign language writing in diverse foreign
language settings. We encourage a diverse range of modes of inquiry,
including theoretical, historical, empirical (quantitative, qualitative
and/or mixed), and/or commentaries. Submissions may include, but are not
limited to, an exploration of the following topics: issues and/or
challenges in L2 writing instruction in different contexts; genre knowledge
development/acquisition in L2 writing; L2 writers at different levels and
in different contexts; L2 writing teacher education; academic writing for
publication in a multilingual world; L2 thesis/dissertation writing; L2
writing in non-English languages; features of academic writing in different
languages; innovative approaches to teaching/ researching L2 writing. We
welcome proposals related to other topics related to L2 writing as well.
