I am pleased to announce registration<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/digital-archives-in-communities-practice-and-preservation-tickets-46104559980> for the first workshop related to ‘Identity, Representation and Preservation in Community Digital Archives and Collections', a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award, is now open. This 12-month project funded by the British Academy and led by Dr Sharon Webb (Principal Investigator) is an intervention in three important areas; community archives, digital preservation and content representation.

The first workshop, ‘Digital Archives in Communities - Practice and Preservation’, will be held at the Sussex Humanities Lab 20-21st June and will feature a number of speakers and presentations by members of community archives as well as practitioners and researchers in archiving, digital preservation and arts practice.

The workshop is open to volunteers who work in community archives, practitioners, researchers, activists, archivists, artists and anyone interested in community archives and digital preservation. The event is free, but registration<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/digital-archives-in-communities-practice-and-preservation-tickets-46104559980> is essential as places are limited. Lunch will be provided.
There are a number of small travel bursaries (£100 each) available for PhD students, early career scholars and members of community led archives. These are sponsored by the British Academy, if you are interested please send an email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> briefly explaining the relevance of your work to this event by 6th June 2018.
The event runs over 2 days, 20th June (9.30 - 5pm), 21st June (9.30 - 4pm).
