Dear Colleagues,

I would like to draw to your attention an opportunity to join our team in Clyde Biochemistry, part of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board. We have a Principal Band 8a Clinical Scientist post based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley currently advertised on NHS Scotland jobs website. The post has arisen due to the previous postholder gaining promotion to a Consultant Clinical Scientist post.

We are a friendly department in a large District General Hospital with an excellent record of developing staff. The Clyde Biochemistry service encompasses Inverclyde Royal, Royal Alexandra and Vale of Leven Hospitals, all located in close proximity to the cultural and vibrant city of Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Trossachs National Park and the beautiful West Coast of Scotland.

Within our department we continue to build upon our track record of developing new assays and working with clinicians to introduce these assays into diagnostic pathways to improve patient care.

We’re also part of a network of hospitals in NHSGG&C that provides specialist services in Endocrine, Trace Elements, Metabolic and Toxicology. We have excellent links with our colleagues and we would be highly supportive of the successful candidate in developing or continuing to pursue specialist interest in one of these areas.

For appointment at AfC 8a you will have substantial experience in Clinical Biochemistry, be HCPC registered and have completed the first part of FRCPath examination. Consideration will be given to appoint under AfC annex 21 for candidates who are HCPC registered as a clinical scientist but who have yet to attain the written FRCPath examination. Full support will be given to allow the successful candidate to continue their training.

The post is advertised on the NHS Scotland jobs website (Job Ref 51670G). Full details can be found on the following link:

If you’d like to discuss the post further or arrange an informal visit please get in touch myself on 0141 314 6657 ([log in to unmask]).

The closing date is 1st June and we look forward to hearing from you.

Andy
