Job Advertisement: Closing Date 30th April 2018 University of Oxford Postdoctoral Research Assistant in CMB Polarized Foregrounds Polarization measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) are one of the most exciting areas in observational cosmology, and dealing with astrophysical foregrounds to the CMB is one of the major challenges in this area. We have an opportunity for a researcher to join our team working on observation and analysis of foreground data, using current generation instruments, and also to help plan for the next generation of experiments. Oxford is leading the C-Band All-Sky Survey (C-BASS), which is a project to measure the brightness of the whole sky in both temperature and polarization and is a collaboration also involving partners at Manchester, Caltech and South Africa. C-BASS has already observed the entire northern sky at 5 GHz and is currently observing the southern sky. The successful candidate will join the team in Oxford working on analysis of data from C-BASS and other CMB experiments. They will also contribute to the design of NextBASS, which will observe over a broad range of microwave frequencies, and be involved in multi-national CMB projects such as LiteBIRD. http://www2.physics.ox.ac.uk/about-us/job-opportunities ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Royal Astronomical Society Job List is provided free-of-charge through the JISC Mail Service.
