Title: Postgraduate Symposium on Cultural Translation

Proposals are invited for a symposium at Birmingham City University, Birmingham, to explore questions of cultural translation in contemporary Media, Communication and Cultural Studies research. * Intermediality, translation between different cultural forms, and adaptation

* Cultural translators as/and/versus cultural intermediaries

* Cultural translation and politics - including questions of erasure, representation, and appropriation

* Cultural translation in relation to ideas of 'third space', 'hybridity' and the 'in-between'

* Failures in cultural translation

Keynote Lecture: Dr Sarah Maitland, Goldsmiths, University of London.

Proposals for papers should be approx 300 words in length and should be sent to [log in to unmask] no later than 16 May 2018 with a short bio-note. Postgraduates, Early Career Researchers, and junior academics welcome.
