The UK electronic information Group (UKeiG) is pleased to announce a one-day workshop on "Presentation Skills for Information Professionals" at CILIP's headquarters in the heart of London on Friday 22nd June 2018.

Effective presentation skills are essential for library and information professionals, enabling them to market and promote their services internally and externally, to deliver training courses, participate in conferences and attend job interviews.

This is a practical, hands-on workshop designed to help you create and deliver fantastic presentations. The advice, tips and tricks are evidence-based, rooted in research and immediately applicable in the workplace.

Who should attend?

*This course is essential for any library, IT or information professional keen to stay ahead of the game by upgrading their knowledge of the latest resources and tools that support the creation of presentations

*It will be of interest to staff at all levels if they are actively involved in training, presenting and communicating any aspect of the IT, library and information service

*It will be invaluable to any professional keen to improve engagement with users

Course outline and topics

The morning session covers the golden rules of creating presentations, finding amazing images without breaking copyright laws or spending any money, and creating PowerPoint presentations in three different styles. The three styles vary in complexity and flexibility, so you can choose which to use for a given presentation.

The afternoon introduces Prezi (a zooming presentation tool), Microsoft’s Sway (“PowerPoint on Steroids”) and Kahoot (an interactive quiz tool), covering when and when not to use them, and how to use them most effectively.

The final section of the day centres around researching presentations, delivering talks and teaching, and conquering nerves.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

*Effectively present to a diverse audience
*Create dynamic and interactive presentations using the very latest digital applications
*Seamlessly incorporate images, graphics and video into your content
*Aggregate content from multiple desktop and web-based resources
