Crane as in Ms Medway's pretty handmaid? If so, the walls may need waterproofing as well as soundproofing if he's planning to have a look at the place himself.

An excellent idea, John!  At the same time, I could perhaps offer Mr. "crane"  the short-term rental rights for the House of Care ("'Comfy floors; walls need soundproofing. Owner has many pets. Don't ask staff for a wake-up! I rate it 2 stars'-- Scudamour S., client, Faerie Land Aire B 'n' B").

Wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing this. Maybe you could send the "realtor" a reply beginning "Sir, knowing how doubtfully all Allegories may be construed. . ."

Dear all,

I got the following message this morning over the largely defunct George Gascoigne mailing list.  Note where this "realtor" wants to buy property.

My name is Eric crane, a Realtor with Next Home Realty Experts in Bowling Green KY, I have a client who is interested in buying a property in your area of expertise. Please let me know if you're available to help them out and I will send their contact details and the listings they are interested in.

 Best,

Eric crane

My area of expertise, eh?  Shall I offer to sell him the House of Pride ("Lots of curb appeal, but a real fixer-upper")? The Bower of Bliss ("Friendly neighbors!")? Book VI's monastery ("Uh, the previous owners had a Blatant Beast; you'll probably have to replace the carpet")? A relaxing oceanfront cottage on the Gulfe of Greedinesse?

I think we can all agree that it's nice to see the Faerie Lond housing market heating up again...

P.S. It was good to see so many of you at RSA last week.  Let's do it again for SCSC in Albuquerque in November!  The deadline for submissions to the 2018 Sixteenth Century Society Conference is April 15, and I encourage everyone on this list to submit an abstract or a panel proposal. I'm the English-literature program coordinator for this year's conference, and I'll look forward to putting together panels out of independent submissions on Sidney, Spenser, the Sidney Circle, or any other authors or topics pertinent to British literature and culture, c. 1450-1680.  To submit a proposal, just go here:

http://sixteenthcentury.org/conference/

If you have any questions about the conference, just drop me a line.
