Dear colleagues,

I want to bring the following opening for a postdoc researcher to your attention. It would be great if you could forward it to suitable candidates.
Thank you very much and best regards,

Thomas Wolf

The Excited States in Isolated Molecules Group (https://ultrafast.stanford.edu/eim-excited-states-isolated-molecules) is part of the Stanford PULSE Institute. Our research aims at an understanding of coupled electron-nuclear dynamics during photophysical and photochemical processes. This requires experiments with a time resolution in the femtosecond domain as well as a spatial resolution on the atomic level. We are pushing this frontier with ultrafast spectroscopy using laser pulses with short wavelengths from the vacuum ultraviolet to the soft x-ray spectral domain and with ultrafast electron diffraction experiments.
Our new project investigates gas phase molecular dynamics with time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy experiments using short wavelength sources in a laser laboratory. The results are to be complemented with soft x-ray spectroscopy and ultrafast electron diffraction. The successful applicant is expected to communicate the results in papers and conference presentations.

Our research is based at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University. PULSE is a very collaborative and inspiring research environment and we have well-established worldwide collaborations with groups in our research field.

Requirements: Applicants need to have a hands-on-attitude and effective communication skills. We search for highly motivated people with PhD degrees in physics, chemistry or related fields and ideally a background in ultrafast laser experiments.

Terms and Benefits: The Postdoctoral Scholar position carries an initial one-year term, renewable to a maximum of three years, with competitive salary and benefits.

What to send: Please send an application with a brief motivation letter indicating your interests, a CV, a publication list and three references. We will start reviewing applications and continue so until the positions are filled.
