medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I suppose 1330 is a bit too early for it to refer to the "Anima Christi" (coincidentally mentioned in a recent email thread, with link to the oldest MS: http://d.lib.rochester.edu/teams/text/fein- harley2253-volume-2-article-19 ), which is sometimes attributed to Pope John XXII and comes with an indulgence, albeit partial?pax,Benjamin--On Wed, Feb 28, 2018 at 2:22 PM, Cormack, Margaret Jean <[log in to unmask]> wrote:medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture******************************Greetings all,
I have an Icelandic reference to 'prayers pertaining to the passion of Christ, formulated/offered by the pope, with a great indulgence' which arrived in Iceland in the year 1330. Can anyone suggest what this might be? I am aware that there are plenty of indulgences supposedly from the pope but which are not, in fact, papal, and I suspect it may be one of these.
Thanks,Meg
