Dear colleagues We are looking for a well-qualified academic with an interest in management studies to join a team of scholars dedicated to researching and teaching students planning to enter the events sector. We will consider any area of specialism (e.g. human resource management, marketing, strategic management, finance etc.). A track record of research is highly desirable. We will devise a bespoke induction programme, from work shadowing to attending academic events management seminars/ conferences, for suitably qualified candidates who are unfamiliar with the events sector and the field of events management. If successful, you would be joining a dynamic and ambitious school that has a reputation internationally for excellence. Our varied provision has enabled us to secure several accolades: 5 stars by QS, the international ranking agency, TedQual accreditation, and we are deemed to be a Centre of Excellence by the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) and the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO). Your research aspirations would be encouraged and supported by four professors and several research-related staff (readers, postdoc, and research fellow) under the auspices of the International Centre for Research in Events, Tourism and Hospitality (ICRETH). We submit to Unit 24 (formerly unit 26) in the Research Excellence Framework (REF). We were ranked second in the UK for 'research power' (a measure of quality and volume) in REF2014.
