The University of Northampton is looking for an external examiner for our MSc Psychology programme. This MSc Psychology is a conversion programme designed to cover the core domains associated with GBC curriculum. The programme has received accreditation from the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the degree confers eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). It offers students a core curriculum within some of the key areas within psychology, through a range of modules which allow them to develop further capabilities already achieved through studying at undergraduate level. The programme uses lectures, skills workshops and seminars, group activities, oral presentations, guided tasks, online activities and practical research training (including a dissertation) to support students in developing a knowledge and critical understanding in psychology. An overview of your role and responsibilities includes: - Confirming the comparability of programme quality and standards, student performance and assessment processes at University of Northampton with those of similar programmes at other UK Institutions of Higher Education. - Producing an annual report and attending Boards of Examiners as appropriate. You should have appropriate academic expertise/experience in Psychology, be a Chartered Psychologist, be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education and should be aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of the flexible curriculum, ideally as a Programme Leader or Senior Lecturer on a similar programme. Previous experience as an external examiner is strongly preferred. The appointment will be for the four academic years 2018 to 2022.
