On the subject of not integrating collections with the main site, I'd be keen to understand why also - user need vs technical constraints vs in-house vs outsource. Also any issues with so much video and linking to the DAMS. On balance I feel that having the two platforms separate wins, but it would certainly be interesting to compare notes. My concern would be the risk of conflicts during upgrades and updates. I like the open source-ness of the platform - (might need to give that a whizz with some of our data!) and also what appears to be a nifty way to navigate between the main site and the object pages.

I think it's a really effective re-brand.

Saw via Rob Cawston [@cawstone] that the Science Museum launched a new website look and feel yesterday. I like it a lot, and it does some interesting things IMO which seem to be more and more popular - namely
- Less stuff. Whether actually less, or just much simpler sitemap - or better articulation of the sitemap - it all seems really lean. This is refreshing IMO, and is a thing we struggle with with clients all the time - just too much of everything, and too many / complicated menus..
- Much less reliance on sidebars. More single page, local anchor scrolling with the nav at the top somewhere or floating
- An interesting approach with the way they've done the main menu (I like it, but it took me a minute..)
