Dear Colleagues, Apologies for cross-posting. ======================================= Transportmetrica A: Transport Science Special Issue Call for Papers Connected and Autonomous Traffic Systems http://explore.tandfonline.com/cfp/est/transportmetrica-a/si2 Scope of topics and interest Traffic congestion is one of the major transportation challenges in the coming years. Recent studies have shown that the use of connected and autonomous (CA) vehicles in a traffic stream can significantly improve road safety, traffic efficiency, and environmental sustainability. In general, a CA vehicle can obtain neighboring information via vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication and/or vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication (hereafter, V2X communication for short), and then adopt a suitable control law to achieve a certain objective, such as maintaining constant inter-vehicle spacing within vehicles or smooth driving patterns. The scope for papers in this special issue is on the dynamics of connected and autonomous vehicles in traffic systems, from the perspective of individual vehicles to the aggregate (e.g. macroscopic) flow properties at the network level. The scope of the special issue covers the following areas, but not limited to: - Motorway traffic dynamics in the connected vehicles environment - Traffic control in the large-scale urban networks using V2X - Integration of practical communication systems into the dynamics of traffic flow - Innovative application of Intelligent traffic systems (ITS) for monitoring and control of road networks in a connected vehicles environment - Properties and modeling of Macroscopic or Network Fundamental Diagram (MFD or NFD) in the CA environment - Using V2X systems for developing public transport signal priority strategies Submission Guidelines The length of each paper, including the abstract and references, should not exceed 10,000 words. It should be noted that each table, figure, or photograph accompanying the text counts as 250 words. Please submit the paper to the journal’s online submission system: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ttra Or read the full instructions for authors before submitting. The paper will go through a normal peer review process. Important dates: First submission deadline: 15 October 2017 Notification of first decision: 15 December 2017 Revision submission deadline: 1 March 2018 Notification of final decision: 1 May 2018 Final manuscripts deadline: 1 July 2018 Issue of publication (expected): End 2018 Editorial information - Special Issue Guest Editor: Dong Ngoduy, Head of Connected Traffic Systems Lab, University of Canterbury ([log in to unmask]) - Special Issue Guest Editor: Mehdi Keyvan-Ekbatani, Lecturer, Connected Traffic Systems Lab, University of Canterbury ( [log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]>) - Special Issue Guest Editor: Martin Treiber, Head of Institute for Traffic Econometrics, Modelling, and Statistics, Technical University of Dresden ([log in to unmask]) ======================================= ***************************************************************** Professor S.C.
