UTSG 50th Annual Conference

UCL (University College London)

3-5 January 2018

Final Reminder: Call for Abstracts Deadline 25th August

We would like to remind you that the deadline for submission of abstracts to the 50th Annual Conference of the Universities Transport Studies Group (UTSG) is only a few days away.

In this 50th year, the conference will be hosted by UCL (University College London), reflecting that UCL hosted the first UTSG Meeting in 1967. The conference will take place on Wednesday 3rd - Friday 5th January 2018 inclusive. Staff and students of UTSG member institutions are invited to submit 200-300 word abstracts for consideration using this online submission form<http://www.utsg.net/confmgt/openconf.php>. Papers are also welcomed from honorary staff of a member institution, from staff and students who have now left a member institution provided that the paper relates to work carried out under the aegis of the institution or while a member of staff or student was at the institution. For this 50th Annual Conference the UTSG is expanding this call for papers beyond the UK and Ireland by welcoming abstracts submitted by members of universities in all countries worldwide.

Papers are invited on both completed work and projects in their early stages in any field of transport, travel and mobility. Inclusion of papers in the conference does not constitute publication, and papers submitted to a journal for publication may also be submitted to the conference provided that they do not appear in a journal before the conference. Selected papers may, with their author's consent, be considered for publication in a UTSG special issue of a peer-reviewed journal.

Eligible authors are also invited to enter the competition for the Smeed Prize, which will be awarded for the best paper written and presented by a student from a university in the UK or Ireland: the first prize is £500 and the runner-up prize is £250. The winning paper may also be published in an appropriate journal. Prospective entrants should consult the Smeed Prize regulations<http://utsg.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/UTSG_Smeed_Rules.pdf>, available from www.utsg.net<http://www.utsg.net> . Abstracts submitted for papers to be entered into the Smeed Prize competition are to be between 800-1000 words and to be supported by a confirmation message from the candidate's supervisor, which must be sent to the conference organisers ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by 25th August 2017.

Deadline for abstracts: Friday 25th August 2017

Deadline for accepted papers: Friday 17th November 2017.
