Hi Claire,
I 'think' had a similar issue with C1, it was shortening some fields, but I can't remember which ones now. I got round it by using Bridge, but I do remember reading something online about field lengths in the specification, I seem to recall there may be some restrictions that C1 correctly implement but Bridge ignores.

It's all a bit hazy now, so I can't be sure if that's right, but I do know Sarah Saunders is on this list and hopefully will chip in as she is on the IPTC working group.

Hi Claire,

I'm not sure about the glitches you are experiencing with Creator and Source fields, but we have recently started using the IPTC Cultural heritage panel and script.  This essentially enables you to directly import data from a spreadsheet and embed it into a batch of images with just a couple of clicks.  It's a really good tool which I picked up thanks to advice from other subscribers to this thread.

We also use Bridge templates for additional fields not covered by the CH panel / script.

Best wishes

Subject: Metadata input

Hi everyone,

I'm currently doing some work at the Lindley Library, photographing their beautiful collection of botanical art and am trying to find a way of streamlining the way I input the metadata for each image. I am using Hasselblad Phocus software, bridge and Photoshop. The issue I am having is that when I input the metadata in Bridge it doesn't retain the 'Creator' and 'Source' fields properly (drops words or halves sentences) and so when opened in Photoshop these fields need to be amended. I have the same problem with the same fields if the info is added in Phocus. Is this a universal issue or do I have a glitch in my Photoshop program?

Also I find the metadata input in Phocus not as simple as it should be. Most of the info I need is the same for each image but I need to change the 'Headline' field each time. It seems that I can't just add this in to the IPTC core metadata window, instead I have to edit the preset and then go back to the IPTC core window and chose the relevant preset again. This seems too longwinded and just to be even more frustrating it doesn't always work anyway. Again is this just a glitch in my version of the software or a design fault of the software generally?

And lastly, does anyone else input metadata this way or am I missing a much better way of doing it?

Thank you,
Claire
