Regional Studies Association Student & Early Career Conference 2017
CHARTING A CAREER PATH: SHARING THE LEARNING AND LESSONS
2nd - 3rd November 2017, Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies, Newcastle University, UK
Abstract submission deadline: 17th August 2017

This conference aims to provide students and early career researchers opportunities to present their work, receive feedback, network, collaborate and socialise with others working in regional studies and related fields.

The conference will bring together a range of international participants from different disciplines to present and debate their work in a welcoming, supportive and stimulating environment. Participants will be able to enrich their engagement with contemporary research in the field and share the learning and lessons on charting a career path in the context of changes in the academic landscape and labour market in institutional and funding terms.

This conference will give participants the opportunity to network, collaborate and socialise with others working in regional studies and related fields. Participants will receive invaluable feedback, new ideas and will learn how to strategically develop and enhance their profiles for career progression.

Proposals will be considered by the Conference Programme Committee against the criteria of originality and interest, subject balance and geographical spread.

The is open to RSA members and non-members. RSA members benefit from a lower registration fee. PUBLISH OPEN ACCESS IN RSRS'S STUDENT & EARLY CAREER MENTORED PAPERS SECTION and the RSA will cover the Article Processing Charge (APC) for you

The innovative Regional Studies Association's open access journal, Regional Studies, Regional Science<http://rsa.tandfonline.com/toc/rsrs20/current>, has a section specifically devoted to Early Career Papers which focuses on publishing short articles from students and early career researchers to make their research accessible to a wider audience. Articles in the Early Career Papers section will have a regional focus and will succinctly present the research questions and results whether preliminary or final.

The editors of the Early Career Papers section are currently seeking submissions of paper proposals for short articles (max. 3,000 words). Contributions are welcomed from any discipline in the field of regional studies or regional science and with any geographical focus. The 'regional' dimension may vary from trans-national spaces with fuzzy boundaries to clearly defined spaces at the sub-national level. Authors (and co-authors) should be PhD students or early career researchers that have completed their PhD in the last five years.  The next submission deadline is 31st July 2017.
