Dear all, The Refugee Law Initiative has recently published two new pieces on our RLI blog (www.rli.blogs.sas.ac.uk) that may be of interest. The first, “Designating ‘Vulnerability’: The asylum claims of women and sexual minorities” by Dr Moira Dustin (University of Sussex) was published as a contribution to Refugee Week 2017, and outlines some of the challenges that women and sexual minorities face in claiming asylum. Dr Dustin argues that there is a need for more responsive and nuanced approaches to move past a reliance on 'vulnerability' in arguing these cases. https://rli.blogs.sas.ac.uk/2017/06/19/designating-vulnerability-the-asylum-claims-of-women-and-sexual-minorities-2/ The second piece, entitled “Allocation of Responsibility in Times of ‘Crisis’: The Impact of the Exit and Entry Human Rights Principles on Responsibility-Sharing in the EU”, is written by RLI Research Affiliate Paolo Biondi (School of Advanced Study, University of London).
