Betreff: Personal assistance relationships

Dear friends

People on this list may be interested in our research findings from the ESRC-funded Personal Assistance Relationships Study.

Our team at UEA have conducted qualitative interviews with 30 disabled people and 30 personal assistants, to explore their working relationships.  We make recommendations for how these important social care relationships can go better.

We will be having the final event and report launch for this study on Thursday 29 June 2017, from 1400-1700. The event will be held at: Woburn House Conference Centre, 20 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9HQ (fully accessible).

The event will comprise a presentation of the findings by members of the research team, together with a panel discussion  of their implications with Tracey  Jannaway (Independent Living Alternatives), Jane Campbell (Baroness Campbell of Surbiton), and Mark Harrison (Equal Lives).

We will also give you a glimpse of the new online training package we have produced for PA employers/workers, to help these relationships go better.  This training is illustrated by cartoonist David Shenton.

We will make available print copies of the final report of the project, together with a short ‘Findings’ document at the event.  The Findings document PDF will be circulated by email after the event to anyone who expresses interest.

Please let us know if you would like to attend the event or receive the Findings PDF.

Thanks, Tom and team
