Call for Applications for Art Residencies:

HLRS Will Host Artist Residencies on Computing and Visualization (http://vertigo.starts.eu/)
The High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) invites applications from artists and designers who are interested in computer science and technology to join us as part of the VERTIGO Project of the European Commission. Residencies are available for applicants interested in film and media, city planning and development, image visualization and analysis, and education.

The High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart is pleased to be partnering with VERTIGO to offer European artists the opportunity to collaborate with one of four ongoing ICT projects at HLRS. The VERTIGO project is supported by the H2020 Program of the European Commission and aims to support and coordinate synergies between artists, cultural institutions, R&D projects in information and communication technologies (ICT) and more stakeholders at the European level. VERTIGO will provide 3 to 6 months of funding to support artists interested in working closely with our research teams and developing new approaches to address the technological challenges they are facing.

HLRS will host residencies in conjunction with the following four projects. Follow the links for more information on their respective technologies and the overall application procedure.

Mont-Blanc 3:            Code to simulate physically-accurate liquids for computer graphics
Urban Lab:                 Virtual and augmented reality in urban development
ExaFLOW:                  Computational Fluid Dynamics in exascale environments
MoeWe:                   Virtual and augmented reality in education

Who:           Artists and creatives. Technological background is a plus, English speaking skills are mandatory
Where:        High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, Nobelstraße 19, 70569 Stuttgart
When:          3 to 6 months during the period between September 2017 and February 2020
Grant:          In category No. 1 up to 15 000 €; in category No. 2 up to 30 000€ 

Application procedure: Applications are being accepted until May 22, 2017 at 10:00 CET. 
Application documents include amongst others CV, Motivational Letter, project draft and work samples. Applications are addressed to our partner VERTIGO
