medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Nevermind Noting.

I forgot that the ADB is available online. He succeeded Ratolf in about 840 (which is when Hrabanus sent him a booklet about predestination, with a prefatory letter addressed to Noting. He appears to have died in 863/865.

I’m trying to determine the date of death of Noting [Notingus, Nottingus], bishop of Verona. It appears that he was still bishop of Verona in 853, and had by 854 become bishop of Brescia. But I can’t seem to find any information about when he died (let alone when he was born, though I’m guessing it must have been at some point between 790 and 810). He was one of Hrabanus’s correspondents, and was involved in the dispute with Gottschalk.

A comprehensive prosopography of the reign of Ludwig the Pious and his successor(s) seems not (yet) to be available, if indeed someone is working on this. Of course I am happy to be corrected on this.
